2024.09.03

The 'Taiwan AI College Alliance' (TAICA) was officially announced by the Ministry of Education yesterday (2nd). A total of 25 universities across Taiwan joined in the first semester of the 113th academic year, with Feng Chia University being one of the members.

Feng Chia University's Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Guo-Hao Tang, attended the Ministry of Education's press conference on behalf of Feng Chia. He stated that the AI Alliance can effectively address the current shortage of industry talent and the full load of AI-related professional teachers in schools. It can also further strengthen regional university cooperation and effectively promote digital autonomous learning, implementing AI applications in various industries. He encouraged Feng Chia students to seize the opportunity to take courses and comprehensively enhance their competitiveness.

In the 2024 Global Views Monthly University President peer review rankings, Feng Chia ranked ninth in Taiwan and first among private universities in the highly AI-related field of 'Information and Communication Technology,' demonstrating the university's teaching and research strength in this area. Additionally, through collaborations with internationally renowned companies such as Microsoft and Taiwan AI Labs, the school ensures that students can access and utilize the latest technologies, accumulating practical experience. On this basis, Feng Chia University joined the Taiwan AI College Alliance, providing students with more diverse learning resources and opportunities. In the future, Feng Chia teachers will also join the ranks of course instructors, further enhancing the university's teaching and research capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence.

As a member of the University AI Alliance, Feng Chia University students can not only take AI courses offered by the university but also actively apply for courses offered by alliance schools. TAICA currently offers four types of credit programs: AI Exploration and Application, AI Industrial Application, AI Natural Language Technology, and AI Visual Technology Application. These programs are available to students from the 25 alliance schools, allowing them to take cross-school courses online, both synchronously and asynchronously. Upon completing the courses, students will receive credit program certificates issued by the Ministry of Education. The first batch of courses includes Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Fintech, Data Mining and Applications, and Natural Language Processing, which are open to students from both interdisciplinary and electrical engineering and information fields.
